rewrite this title What is TikTok’s ‘Gen Z Boss and a Mini’ meme? The viral trend, explained

Is this the grating-est generation?

As if Zoomers weren’t kickstarting enough questionable social media trends of late: Generation Z has been labeled “cringeworthy” following a TikTok video depicting 20-something female office workers chanting about their appearance — referring to themselves as short with “itty bitty t–ties” and an “attitude.”

The much-memed clip, which boasts more than 3.4 million views, was seemingly inspired by last month’s viral “boots and a slicked back bun” video series that shows a group of women caroling about their outfits in singsong form, Forbes reported.

This latest footage, posted a week ago by TBH Skincare, shows a group of Gen Zers standing in a circle chanting about the aesthetics of Zoomer office workers.

“Gen Z boss and a mini. Itty bitty t–ties and a bob,” the gaggle recites, evoking the lampooned chorus by the space witch coven from the Disney+ “Star Wars” series “The Acolyte.”

The chant continues: “Five-foot-3-inches and an attitude. Secret pouch and a trench. New Frank Green and a sneaky link. Fake tan hands and a hoop.”

The group was ripped up and down on X with many critics lambasting the clip for being cringeworthy and corporate.

“The HR department 1h before doing engineering layoffs,” quipped one wit alongside footage of the vapid chant.

Another derided the clip as the reason they skip HR “circle bonding sessions.”

“I can tell who does & does not work in corporate America by their appraisal of the ‘Gen Z boss & a mini” video,’” said another. “I’ve been working in this hellscape for most of my career & can attest there is nothing pleasant about being around these vacuous, ambitious, vegetable-brained demons.”

Meanwhile, some detractors deemed it evidence that the so-called hip Gen Zers have come full circle and turned into the millennials they often lambast for so-called “cringe-worthy” behaviors.

These attributes include 30-somethings’ choice of socks to their weird slang and obsession with “Harry Potter” and “The Office.”

“Gen Z is very rapidly going through the process that millennials went through that made them old and cringe,” lamented one X commenter.

“Twice the speed as millennials,” scoffed another.

In other words, it appears that Gen Z is becoming the very thing they hate.

Fortunately, it appears that the content creators are at least taking the bile in stride.

In a seemingly self-aware follow-up clip, the same group of gals is seen dancing and reciting variations of some of the harsher comments they’ve received, including, “Bring back the gender gap,” and “Fire every single one of them.”

Judging from the comments, that attempt to own the criticisms was received much better than the original clip.

While one repulsed respondent wrote, “Sweet Jesus, this is painful,” numerous others praised the group, saying they “live for this” and telling the performers: “Slay queenies.”
