The 2024 Latin Grammy Awards marked a milestone anniversary, celebrating 25 years of honoring the best of Latin music in Spanish and Portuguese. The event took place at the Kaseya Center in Miami, showcasing star-studded performances that highlighted the explosive growth of Latin music in recent years. More than 700 artists were nominated across 58 categories, with Juan Luis Guerra making a big splash by winning Album of the Year for “Radio Güira.” Other standout winners included Jorge Drexler for Song of the Year.

Colombian singer-songwriter Carlos Vives received a special award recognizing his 30-year career and his contributions to reinterpreting traditional Colombian sounds for a global audience. Rock icon Bon Jovi surprised audiences with a special appearance to honor Vives and performed a remixed version of his hit song “Now Or Never” with Pitbull. The show also featured powerful tributes to key figures in Latin music, including José José, Vicente Fernández, and Sergio Mendes.

Younger artists making waves in the Latin music industry were also highlighted during the event. Performances by up-and-coming urban artists, as well as a Spanglish performance by Joe Jonas and Ela Taubert, showcased the diversity and innovation within the genre. Latin music icon Marc Anthony paid homage to the tropical music genre with a special segment that concluded with a duet of “Vivir Lo Nuestro” alongside La India.

Producer and songwriter Edgar Barrera led the nominations with nine nods, with hits like “Un x100to” by Grupo Frontera and Bad Bunny under his belt. Winners of various categories included Carin León, Draco Rosa, Kany García, Karol G, and Luis Fonsi. Barrera took home three awards, including Songwriter of the Year and Producer of the Year, expressing gratitude for the recognition among esteemed peers in the industry.

During the pre-show event at the Miami Beach Convention Center, Spanish Argentine singer Nathy Peluso stood out as the most awarded female artist of the night, winning in three categories. Her powerhouse vocals and genre-bending music earned her awards for Best Alternative Song, Best Rap/Hip Hop Song, and Best Long-Form Music Video. Peluso expressed her gratitude for the blessings that music has brought into her life and the opportunity to create something she is proud of through her album “Grasa.” Her success at the Latin Grammy Awards highlighted the diverse talent and creativity present within the Latin music industry.
