Queen Letizia attended an event at the Teatro Real wearing sneakers due to a fractured toe on her right foot, as a result of a domestic accident. This is the second time in less than a month that she has had to wear comfortable shoes at a public event due to health issues. During a State visit to the Netherlands, Letizia had to remain seated during a reception due to a foot condition, and now she has a fracture on the other foot. Despite the injury, she joked with reporters saying, “This will heal in no time.” The Queen sustained the fracture by hitting her foot on a table a few days ago and has been advised by doctors to rest and apply ice, although she intends to continue with her schedule, albeit in different footwear.

On Monday, Queen Letizia attended a concert for mental health organized by the Princess of Girona Foundation at the Teatro Real in Madrid, accompanied by the President of the Council of State, Carmen Calvo, and the Minister of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory, Ángel Víctor Torres. The event featured performances by young musicians and videos showcasing real stories of young individuals with mental health issues who found solace in music during difficult times. Mental health and youth are key topics in the Queen’s work, reflecting her ongoing commitment to supporting and promoting these causes.

The “Talent Tour” organized by the Princess of Girona Foundation will conclude on Tuesday in Madrid, after making stops in Lleida, Salamanca, Cádiz, and Santander. The tour aims to showcase and celebrate the talents of young individuals, culminating in the announcement of the winners of the 2024 Princess of Girona International Prize by King Felipe VI. Queen Letizia’s presence at these events underscores her dedication to supporting and empowering young people, as well as her advocacy for mental health awareness and education.

Despite her recent injury, Queen Letizia remains committed to fulfilling her responsibilities and maintaining her busy schedule, including an upcoming awards ceremony on Tuesday. The fractured toe on her right foot, diagnosed as a fracture in the proximal phalanx of the central toe, will require weeks of treatment, but the Queen’s determination to carry on with her duties is evident. Her willingness to continue with her engagements, even in the face of physical discomfort, demonstrates her strong work ethic and dedication to her role as Queen of Spain.

Queen Letizia’s choice to attend the event at the Teatro Real in comfortable footwear, despite her fractured toe, highlights her professionalism and resilience. Her engagement with the Princess of Girona Foundation’s initiative for mental health awareness emphasizes the importance of destigmatizing mental health issues and promoting support for young individuals facing challenges. Through her public appearances and advocacy work, Queen Letizia continues to inspire and uplift those around her, showcasing her commitment to social causes and her role as a compassionate and dedicated leader in Spain.
