Kristen Flynn and Sally Peterson, two sisters from Massachusetts, received makeovers on TODAY with Hoda & Jenna in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Both women shared their stories of being diagnosed with and surviving breast cancer. Kristen noticed a “thickness” in her breast at 49 years old and was shocked to discover a 6-centimeter tumor in her right breast. Despite the challenges she faced, Kristen found inspiration from Hoda Kotb, a fellow breast cancer survivor, who gave her a ring with the word “Forward” on it as a symbol of moving past the disease. Kristen underwent chemotherapy, a mastectomy, and radiation as part of her treatment.

Sally Peterson, Kristen’s younger sister, was also diagnosed with breast cancer two years after Kristen. At 43 years old and with three young boys at home, Sally faced the challenges of her diagnosis with fear and worry. Like her sister, she also received a “Forward” ring from Hoda Kotb and found strength in the support of her family and friends. Despite finishing her treatment several years ago, Sally still deals with the effects of cancer on a daily basis and struggles with her self-image. However, the journey brought her and Kristen closer together as sisters.

Kristen and Sally’s makeovers on the show included hair and wardrobe transformations. Hairstylist Chris Appleton gave Kristen a layered blond bob to match her personality, while stylist Melissa Garcia dressed her in an Ann Taylor outfit to make her feel sleek and powerful. Sally received a new red hair color to highlight her eyes and boost her confidence. Garcia chose a matching set for Sally to wear, catering to her love for color and ensuring she felt comfortable and confident in her new look.

Both Kristen and Sally’s stories serve as a reminder of the strength and resilience of breast cancer survivors. Despite the challenges they faced during their treatment, they found inspiration and support from each other and Hoda Kotb. The “Forward” rings given to them symbolized moving past the disease and served as a reminder to stay positive. Their makeovers on the show were a way to celebrate their journey and provide them with a fresh start as they continue to navigate life as survivors.

The sisters’ experiences with breast cancer highlighted the importance of early detection and regular screenings. While they had no family history of breast cancer, they both emphasized the need for women to be proactive about their health and pay attention to any changes in their bodies. By sharing their stories on a public platform, Kristen and Sally hope to raise awareness about the disease and inspire others to stay strong in the face of adversity. Their bond as sisters and survivors is a testament to the power of love, support, and resilience in overcoming life’s challenges.

In conclusion, Kristen Flynn and Sally Peterson’s makeovers on TODAY with Hoda & Jenna were a celebration of their strength, resilience, and bond as sisters and breast cancer survivors. Their stories of diagnosis, treatment, and recovery highlighted the importance of early detection, positivity, and the support of loved ones. Through their experiences, they have become advocates for breast cancer awareness and encourage women to prioritize their health and well-being. The “Forward” rings given to them by Hoda Kotb symbolize moving past the disease and serve as a reminder to keep pushing forward. Kristen and Sally’s makeovers were not just about physical transformation but also about embracing a new chapter in their lives as survivors.
