Of all the ladies at The View table, Joy Behar has earned a reputation for being perhaps the most fast and loose with her words on live TV. Thankfully, her co-hosts are there to stop her from making too big of a mistake in front of their legions of viewers, which is exactly what happened on this morning’s episode when Behar maybe accidentally said she hopes Donald Trump boards a rocket into space, the same model of which recently exploded. Twice.
During a discussion about Trump stumping for Elon Musk‘s Tesla outside of the White House yesterday — during which he showed off multiple Tesla models alongside Musk and livestreamed the whole event on X after vowing to buy the car company from him — The View panel dissected the whole bit, which they widely condemned.
“If he cared about the economy, he would be doing these Tesla commercials for the Social Security folks,” Whoopi Goldberg said. “They’d be doing it for the people who work for the government. He would be helping us build the economy. That’s not what this is about.”
Referring to the massive cuts in federal offices and employment in the last few weeks, Goldberg added, “I don’t understand how you can come in and say, we need to trim all this fat and not do the work to figure out where the fat is.”
Stirring up trouble, Behar chimed in, “I would have preferred that instead of buying a Tesla he would have bought a rocket from Elon.”
Her words were met with a wave of nervous laughter from the audience, and she paused before beginning to say, “And go into—” but as the word “space” seemed to be at the tip of her tongue, Goldberg cut Behar off.
“Don’t do it, don’t do it, don’t do it,” she warned and shook her head, then cut to commercial before any more could be said.
Musk has been making headlines for plenty of his activities these days, but some of those recent reports have included word about the second rocket explosion from his company this year, which took place last Thursday (March 6).
A SpaceX Starship craft exploded just minutes after launching last week, raining down debris from space near south Florida and the Bahamas, per Reuters. While Behar implied that Trump should take a rocket to space, thankfully nobody was aboard the Starship, which exploded not long after another SpaceX craft also failed minutes after launch in January of this year.
