Megan Thee Stallion struggled to hold back tears during her Hot Girl Summer tour stop in Tampa, Florida. A fan video captured the Houston native, 29, looking overcome with emotion on stage at Amalie Arena as she performed her hit track “Cobra.” Megan put her head down, took a deep breath, and tried to gather herself before singing, but she struggled to perform the lyrics as she fans her face and covers her eyes to stop herself from crying. It’s unclear what prompted the Grammy winner to break down into tears, but it followed rumors of an AI-generated sex tape allegedly depicting her online.

The vulnerable moment came after Megan appeared to blast the “fake ass” video on social media earlier that day. She expressed how hurtful it was for people to go out of their way to hurt her when she is succeeding. Megan made it clear that this was the last day people could play with her. The rapper has not addressed the onstage incident but did thank her Tampa fans for their support after the show. She posted a video montage on Instagram, thanking them and expressing her love and appreciation for the energy they brought to the performance.

Reports of the AI-generated sex tape surfaced a little over a month after Megan’s former videographer, Emilio Garcia, made “salacious accusations” against her. Garcia sued Megan, claiming that she had engaged in sexual activity with a woman in his presence and created a toxic work environment, which negatively impacted his mental health. Megan’s attorney, Alex Spiro, denied the allegations, stating that it was an employment claim for money, with no sexual harassment claims filed. Spiro also denounced Garcia’s accusations as an attempt to embarrass Megan and assured that they would address the matter in court.

Apart from the legal challenges, Megan has faced ridicule from male hip-hop artists, including Eminem, 50 Cent, and Drake, after accusing Tory Lanez of shooting her in the foot in 2020. Lanez was found guilty in December 2022 on various felony charges related to the incident and was sentenced to 10 years in August 2023. He is currently serving his sentence at North Kern State Prison in Delano, California. Megan has faced a series of legal battles and personal attacks but remains determined to continue her music career and fight against those who seek to harm her reputation.

Despite the challenges she has faced, Megan Thee Stallion continues to thrive as a Grammy-winning rapper with a dedicated fanbase. Her emotional onstage moment in Tampa exhibited her vulnerability amidst a turbulent period in her career. Megan’s openness about her struggles with public scrutiny, legal battles, and personal attacks shed light on the difficulties faced by female artists in the male-dominated hip-hop industry. Her resilience in the face of adversity serves as an inspiration to her fans and fellow musicians, reinforcing her status as a powerful voice in the industry. Megan’s ability to navigate the complexities of fame and her unwavering commitment to her music underscore her strength as an artist and a symbol of empowerment for women everywhere.
