An ex-employee of CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Argentina, Braian Nahuel Paiz, has been arrested for allegedly supplying Liam Payne with drugs that led to the former One Direction member’s death on October 16. Paiz, who worked as a waiter at the hotel, was taken into police custody and could face four to 15 years in prison. He denied any wrongdoing but admitted to drinking alcohol and doing drugs with Payne in his hotel room.
Paiz told a local news outlet that he did not supply Payne with drugs initially but mentioned that they had consumed substances together in the singer’s hotel room. He claimed that Payne asked for his drug dealer’s contact information during a second meeting on October 13 and that they used drugs together that night. Paiz specified that he used weed while Payne allegedly used cocaine. The former hotel staffer mentioned that Payne behaved normally and asked about his well-being during their encounter.
Paiz is one of five individuals charged in connection to Payne’s death. Other accused parties include hotel staff Ezequiel Pereyra, hotel operations manager Gilda Martin, receptionist manager Esteban Grassi, and close friend Rogelio “Roger” Nores. Nores claimed that Payne had a history of substance abuse and nearly died before. Payne had various drugs in his system when he passed away, including pink cocaine. Photos of his hotel room showed signs of drug use and erratic behavior before his fatal fall.
Prosecutors ruled out suicide as the cause of Payne’s death due to his state of consciousness. The singer was laid to rest in his home country, England, on November 20. This tragic incident highlights the dangers of substance abuse and the consequences it can have on individuals and their loved ones. The legal repercussions faced by those accused of providing drugs to Payne serve as a reminder of the responsibility individuals have when it comes to handling substances and the potential consequences that can result from their use.
