Actress Garcelle Beauvais revealed on a podcast that her teenage son, Jax, decided not to participate in Season 14 of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” after receiving racist comments on social media in 2022. Jax expressed that the negativity was too much for him, and his mother respected his decision to not continue filming. Beauvais shared that during the filming of the previous season, Jax was targeted with racist comments, which had a significant impact on him and influenced his decision to step back from the show.
The negative comments directed at Jax occurred in August 2022 while Beauvais was already in a feud with some of her co-stars. The remarks ranged from accusations of using race as a leverage to mentioning his brother Oliver’s past struggles with addiction. Despite having filmed the previous season after facing similar attacks, Jax decided that the negativity was overwhelming, prompting him to opt out of the latest season. Beauvais mentioned that she always leaves the decision up to Jax and his twin brother, Jaid, regarding their involvement in the show.
The actress expressed her shock and disappointment at the hateful comments directed at her son, emphasizing that no child deserves such treatment. She recalled the impact it had on Jax, particularly at the beginning of his high school experience, highlighting the ugliness of the situation. Beauvais also thanked fellow “Real Housewives” star Teresa Giudice for her support during that challenging period, noting that Giudice had been more supportive than some of her own cast members. The support from Giudice meant a lot to Beauvais during a difficult time.
In response to the racist comments, Beauvais and Jax had previously addressed the hate through social media statements. Jax clarified that he was still a kid and did not want to be viewed as an adult, explaining that he was being targeted on social media during his first week of high school. He emphasized that he had no involvement in the show’s drama and simply wanted to be treated like a normal kid. Bravo released a statement denouncing the comments and received support from many of Beauvais’ co-stars.
Filming for Season 14 of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” has been ongoing since May, with the cast recently taking a trip to St. Lucia. Despite the production process, Bravo has not yet announced a premiere date for the upcoming season. The decision of Jax to not participate in the season highlights the impact of online hate and negativity on individuals and families, prompting discussions about the treatment of children and the importance of being mindful of the impact of social media interactions. Beauvais continues to navigate the challenges of being in the public eye while prioritizing the well-being of her children.
