A total of 37 lists have submitted their candidacies for the European elections on June 9 in France, three more than in 2019, according to a decree from the Ministry of the Interior published on Saturday, May 18 in the Official Gazette. The deadline for submitting candidacies was set for Friday at 6:00 pm, with each list required to have 81 names, equal to the number of elected officials from France in the European Parliament. The Ministry of the Interior also conducted a draw to determine the order of allocation of electoral billboards, with the “For a sovereign humanity” list, previously relatively unknown, winning the draw.

In addition to the main political parties, many lists advocating for the environment, French sovereignty, children, or the international language Esperanto have submitted their candidacies. A list for Free Palestine is also present, led by the president of the French Union of Muslim Democrats, Nagib Azergui, who was a candidate in 2019 as well. The list of the National Rally, led by Jordan Bardella, is currently leading in the polls with around 30% of voting intentions, ahead of the Macronist majority led by Valérie Hayer and the Socialist Party of Raphaël Glucksmann.

The European elections are shaping up to be competitive with a diverse range of candidates and parties participating. The “For a sovereign humanity” list, which won the draw for the order of allocation of electoral billboards, is among the lesser-known lists in the race. Various issues such as the environment, French sovereignty, and children’s rights are being addressed by different candidates and parties. The presence of the Free Palestine list, led by Nagib Azergui, adds a dimension of international relations to the election campaign.

The National Rally, led by Jordan Bardella, is currently leading in the polls for the European elections in France, with a substantial amount of support from voters. It is followed by the Macronist majority led by Valérie Hayer and the Socialist Party of Raphaël Glucksmann. The competition between the different lists and parties is expected to intensify as the election date approaches. With a total of 37 lists participating in the elections, the voters will have a wide variety of choices when it comes to selecting their representatives in the European Parliament.

The candidacies for the European elections in France reflect a diverse range of concerns and priorities among the electorate, with environmental issues, French sovereignty, and international relations playing a significant role in the campaign. The participation of various lists advocating for different causes demonstrates the democratic nature of the election process. The outcome of the elections will have an impact on the composition of the European Parliament and the representation of French interests at the European level. As the campaign progresses, the different candidates and parties will aim to articulate their positions and proposals to attract voter support.
