Discover How to Check If You Qualify for Up to $500 in Walmart Class Action Lawsuit Settlement

A class action lawsuit filed in Florida alleges that Walmart has been overcharging its customers for certain groceries, including meat, poultry, pork, seafood, and bagged citrus products. The lawsuit claims that Walmart has been falsely inflating the weight of these products, leading to customers paying more than they should for their groceries. In response to the lawsuit, Walmart has agreed to a $45 million settlement to compensate affected customers. Eligible customers who purchased weighted goods and bagged citrus products from Walmart between October 19, 2018 and January 19, 2024 may be entitled to receive a cash payment of up to $500.

To be eligible for a cash payment from the settlement, customers must have purchased weighted goods or bagged citrus products in-person from Walmart, Walmart Supercenter, or Walmart Neighborhood Market in the U.S. or Puerto Rico during the specified time period. The amount of the cash payment will depend on how much the customer spent on these items at Walmart. Customers who can provide receipts or proof of purchase for their purchases may be eligible for a cash payout of up to $500. Those without receipts can still receive a cash payment based on the number of weighted goods and bagged citrus products they attest to purchasing, with potential payouts ranging from $10 to $25.

The deadline to file a claim for a cash payment from Walmart’s settlement is June 5, 2024. Customers can submit their claims online or via mail, providing their contact information and details about their purchases. If approved for a cash payout, customers will receive their payment in the form of a prepaid Mastercard, direct deposit, Zelle transfer, or Venmo transfer. The settlement aims to compensate customers who may have been overcharged for groceries at Walmart due to the alleged deceptive business practices identified in the lawsuit.

In response to the lawsuit, Walmart has stated that they will continue to offer customers everyday low prices to help them save money on the products they want and need. While Walmart denies the allegations made in the lawsuit, they have agreed to the settlement as they believe it is in the best interest of both parties. The $45 million settlement fund is intended to provide compensation to customers who may have been affected by the alleged overcharging practices at Walmart stores. Customers who believe they are eligible for a cash payment from the settlement should act quickly to file a claim before the June 5 deadline.

Customers who shopped at Walmart and purchased weighted goods or bagged citrus products between October 19, 2018 and January 19, 2024 should check their eligibility for a cash payment from the settlement. By providing receipts or proof of purchase for their groceries, customers may be entitled to receive up to $500 in compensation. Those without receipts can still receive a cash payment based on the number of items they attest to purchasing. Submitting a claim before the June 5 deadline is crucial for customers who wish to receive compensation for any potential overcharging that may have occurred at Walmart stores.
