A former general practitioner, accused of rape and sexual assault on multiple patients, has been sentenced to eleven years in prison by the criminal court of Châteauroux. According to Sébastien Robin, one of the lawyers representing two of the plaintiffs, it is unclear if all the victims were present during the trial as investigators were unable to trace incidents prior to 2010-2011. These videos were described as “particularly unbearable” by Sébastien Robin. The general practitioner would allegedly ask vulnerable patients to masturbate or assume explicit positions during consultations that were not necessary.
The attorney, Christel Jousse, expressed disgust at how the victims felt pressured to comply with the doctor’s requests due to his authority. Another lawyer, Alexia Augereau, noted that the victims needed to understand the doctor’s actions, but this understanding was not achieved. Defense lawyer Pascaline Courthes stated that the accused feels immense guilt, shame, and continues to struggle to understand his actions. The criminal court will review the victims’ requests for compensation on November 15.
