Celebrating The Rise of The New Ivies: 20 Colleges Standing Out As Super-Elite Employers Grow Unfavorable

The Ivy League has long been synonymous with excellence in education and producing some of the most successful individuals in American society. However, recent years have seen a shift in perception of these prestigious universities. Complaints have arisen regarding their admissions policies, grade inflation, and handling of on-campus protests. As a result, Forbes conducted a survey to identify the new elite schools that are producing highly sought-after graduates.

The methodology for this survey involved screening over 1,700 colleges based on factors such as standardized test scores, selectivity, and reliance on objective measures of success in admissions. The resulting list of 32 schools includes both public and private institutions that are now seen as the new Ivies. These schools are characterized by high-achieving students, rigorous academic programs, and strong connections to the corporate world.

Among the public Ivies identified in the survey are institutions like University of Virginia, University of California, Berkeley, and University of Michigan. These universities are known for attracting top talent and producing graduates who excel in their chosen fields. On the private side, schools like Johns Hopkins, Vanderbilt, and Emory are considered on par with the traditional Ivy League institutions in terms of academic rigor and reputation.

The new Ivies are spread across the country, with each school offering a unique blend of academic programs and opportunities for students. Some, like Binghamton University in New York, have gained recognition outside of their local regions and are now attracting students from across the country. Employers are also taking notice of these schools, as they produce graduates who are well-prepared for the workforce and possess the skills needed to succeed in today’s competitive job market.

Overall, the emergence of the new Ivies highlights a shift in the landscape of higher education in America. While the traditional Ivy League institutions still hold prestige, the new elite schools are proving to be just as competitive and successful in educating the next generation of leaders. As the demand for highly skilled and talented individuals continues to grow, these schools are poised to play a crucial role in shaping the future of the country.
