The publishing company Le Monde is seeking to showcase a selection of testimonies from internet users in their publications, including written pieces, photographs, and videos collectively referred to as “Contributions.” These submitted Contributions must adhere to current legislation, such as the press freedom law of July 29, 1881, as well as civil code articles 9 and 9-1 regarding the right to privacy and presumption of innocence, and intellectual property laws. Contributions that violate the law will not be published, and a high standard of spelling and formatting is required. Authors must be identified, and permission must be obtained for the use of any material not created by the submitter. Anonymity requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis by Le Monde’s editorial team.
Le Monde reserves the right to reject or delete any Contribution that goes against the law or the publication’s guidelines, lacks interest for readers, duplicates a previously published testimony, features identifiable minors or individuals without their consent, includes copyrighted material without authorization, or has insufficient technical quality (blurry photos, low-definition videos, inaudible sound). The decision to accept or refuse a submission lies solely with the publishing company. Submitters are encouraged to carefully review the criteria before sharing their Contributions to ensure compliance.
By participating in this call for testimonies, contributors grant Le Monde permission to publish their Contributions on Le Monde’s website, in the newspaper, in M le Magazine du Monde, and any other publication or platform where the company shares editorial content (Facebook, Twitter, Digiteka, Instagram, etc.) worldwide for the duration of the relevant publication. Submissions and permissions are offered on a voluntary basis and do not entitle contributors to any form of compensation. Information provided in the questionnaire is stored by Le Monde and only shared with the initiating journalists and technical teams involved in managing the process. Data associated with Contributions are retained for up to two years, and participants can request access, correction, deletion, or limitation of their data processing at any time.
