Daniel Quéré opened his own bike shop, Ça Redémarre, in Paris in 2018 after being inspired by the bike-café concept he discovered in Germany. The shop quickly became popular in the trendy neighborhood of rue de Charonne in the 11th arrondissement of Paris, catering to a clientele of both daily commuters and cycling enthusiasts. The shop has a cozy and welcoming atmosphere, with a workshop and sales area on one side, and a kitchen, bar, and seating area on the other. The shop also offers bike repair services, with a special package that includes a flat tire repair and a coffee for 16 Euros.

The shop primarily focuses on repairing bikes from the 1970s and 1980s, with brands such as Gitane, Motobécane, and Motoconfort. In addition to repairs, Daniel Quéré also offers repair workshops on Thursday evenings for amateurs looking to learn basic bike maintenance skills before embarking on a long cycling trip. The atmosphere at Ça Redémarre is communal, with Quéré organizing monthly bike rides in the Parisian region for customers to join. The shop also serves as a place for customers to hang out and socialize, with some browsing the selection of vintage bikes for sale while enjoying a local beer from the neighborhood microbrewery.

The shop’s owner, a former IT professional, wanted Ça Redémarre to be more than just a bike shop – he aimed to create a space for community engagement and interaction. The majority of the clients are local residents who use their bikes for daily commuting, while the remaining 20% are passionate cyclists who enjoy sports cycling and long-distance rides on weekends or holidays. Quéré sees his shop as a hub for bike enthusiasts to gather and exchange ideas, with a friendly and laid-back atmosphere that encourages customers to feel like they are visiting a friend’s place.

Ça Redémarre also offers a range of cycling accessories and gear, including bags, helmets, and other essentials for both casual and serious cyclists. The shop’s decor, with wooden ceilings and industrial lighting fixtures, adds to the cozy ambiance, creating a welcoming space for customers to relax and chat over a coffee or a quick bite to eat. The shop’s success is a testament to the growing trend of sustainable and eco-friendly transport options, with cycling becoming increasingly popular as a mode of transportation in urban areas.

Quéré’s shop reflects a larger shift towards sustainable and community-oriented businesses in urban environments, catering to the growing demand for eco-friendly transportation alternatives. By combining his passion for cycling with his entrepreneurial spirit, Quéré has created a successful business that not only meets the needs of local residents but also fosters a sense of community and camaraderie among cycling enthusiasts. As the popularity of cycling continues to rise, shops like Ça Redémarre play an important role in promoting a more sustainable and active lifestyle in cities around the world.
