At 47, Her Fitness and Nutritional Routine

Shakira’s performance at the 2020 Super Bowl halftime show was the result of months of rehearsals and an intense workout routine. Her personal trainer, Anna Kaiser, highlighted the singer’s long-standing commitment to fitness and wellness, which has been ongoing for nine years. Shakira’s dedication to living a healthy lifestyle impressed Kaiser when they first met in 2004. The singer’s routine consists of a combination of diet, mostly whole foods, and exercise, including three to four workouts a week, or more when preparing for a tour.

Kaiser shared some of Shakira’s top fitness tips, including alternating between strength training and cardio to build endurance. This method helps the singer prepare for long shows and tours. Shakira also prioritizes core workouts to maintain her toned tummy, regularly incorporating a six-step routine to shape her core muscles. Additionally, the singer enjoys dance workouts to stay connected to her body and mind, creating new neural pathways and mental stamina.

Shakira consumes a lot of protein to keep up her energy levels due to her hectic schedule, with a source of protein in every meal. Kaiser highlights the importance of heart monitors in Shakira’s workouts, which help her track her effort and push herself harder on days when she has more energy. The singer also eats regularly throughout the day to maintain her energy levels, opting for small meals over the course of the day. This approach helps keep her metabolism revved up, especially when gearing up for a world tour.

Switching up her workout routine regularly is key, as doing the same workout repeatedly can be boring and ineffective. Shakira incorporates a balanced diet consisting of fresh veggies, low glycemic fruit, soups, and protein-rich meals. She also enjoys swimming as a low-impact workout to calm her central nervous system while working against water resistance. Shakira makes room for treats in moderation to satisfy her sweet tooth, emphasizing small quantities and fresh options.

To address Shakira’s hypermobility, Kaiser incorporates foam rolling into her stretching routine. This approach ensures that the singer stretches properly and maintains healthy muscles and joints. Overall, Shakira’s commitment to fitness, wellness, and a balanced diet has enabled her to maintain her physical health and high energy levels, essential for her demanding lifestyle as a performer.
