Researchers suggest searching for new ‘tauonium’ atoms that have never been observed before

Scientists are proposing to search for a new type of atom called tauonium, which would consist of a tau lepton and its antimatter counterpart, an antitau. Tau leptons are heavier relatives of electrons, with about 3,500 times the mass of an electron. In the 1950s, scientists discovered positronium, an atom consisting of an electron and its positively charged antiparticle, a positron.
