A peaceful protest for peace in Gaza was held at the call of numerous organizations on the Sorbonne Square in Paris on May 3, 2024. The protest aimed to show support for the residents of Gaza. However, on May 6, the police intervened outside Sciences Po Paris to remove activists who had set up tents in support of the residents of Gaza. The exams for the students at the school proceeded as normal. According to the police prefecture, 80 people had gathered on the public road outside Sciences Po Paris, leading to a police intervention to evacuate them peacefully.

Earlier in the morning, about twenty students had gathered outside the establishment on Saint-Guillaume Street in Paris, chanting slogans like “Israel assassin, Sciences Po accomplice” and “Palestine will live, Palestine will triumph,” before lying down on the sidewalk. In Reims, there was a blockade at Sciences Po, preventing the exams from taking place for 500 first-year students out of a total of around 1,000 students. The exams will need to be rescheduled. In Strasbourg, students blocked the building housing the University Center for Journalism Studies (CUEJ) to protest the media coverage of the situation in Gaza.

The student mobilizations in France are inspired by similar protests that have been taking place on around forty campuses in the United States since mid-April. The student protests in France primarily involve Sciences Po in Paris, its regional campuses, and other political science institutes. The protesters aim to denounce the situation in Gaza and show solidarity with the residents. The movement has gained momentum in various cities, with students actively participating in protests and demonstrations to raise awareness about the situation in Gaza and demand a ceasefire.

The student mobilization for peace in Gaza is spreading across France, with various universities and institutions participating in protests and demonstrations. The students are raising their voices to condemn the violence and demand an end to the conflict in Gaza. The protesters are specifically targeting government institutions, media organizations, and educational institutions to highlight the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and urge for immediate action to address the situation. The goal is to raise awareness and mobilize support for the residents of Gaza who are facing ongoing conflict and violence.

Overall, the student protests in France are part of a global movement to raise awareness about the situation in Gaza and call for a ceasefire to end the violence and restore peace to the region. The protesters are using various tactics, including protests, sit-ins, and demonstrations, to draw attention to the plight of the residents of Gaza and demand action from world leaders. The student mobilization in France reflects a growing concern among young people about the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and their desire to see a peaceful resolution to the conflict. The protests are a powerful expression of solidarity and support for the people of Gaza and a call for peace in the region.
