Two men were shot and killed on Sunday, May 5th in Sevran, less than 48 hours after a shootout related to drug trafficking left one person dead and several seriously injured in the town of Seine-Saint-Denis, according to police sources. The two men, aged 33 and 35, were known for violence and drug trafficking, according to police sources. There was a heavy police presence at the scene on Sunday evening, with two mobile police units dispatched to the area. The prefect of police, Laurent Nuñez, was expected to speak to the press at the city’s police station at 9 pm.
The previous shootout occurred in the Beaudottes neighborhood of this economically disadvantaged suburb of Paris, leaving one man dead and four others injured on Friday night. Three more gunshot victims presented themselves at the hospital later that night. Mayor Stéphane Blanchet stated that it was likely a settling of scores related to drug trafficking. 25 bullet casings of 7.62 caliber, commonly used for weapons like the Kalashnikov, were found at the scene. Additional mobile police units were sent to the area the next day to bolster existing security measures, which included local police and anti-crime brigades.
