Xavi Hernandez, the head coach of FC Barcelona, publicly admitted to making mistakes during the team’s recent Champions League quarterfinal loss to Paris Saint-Germain. The Catalans took an early lead in the second leg of the tie but ended up losing 4-1 and crashing out 6-4 on aggregate after a red card to Ronald Araujo and Xavi’s own dismissal. Xavi acknowledged his error and called for self-criticism from himself and his players as they prepare to face Real Madrid in the upcoming El Clasico.

Following Araujo’s red card for a reckless challenge, teammate Ilkay Gundogan criticized his actions, but Xavi dismissed any need for intervention, saying that when there is no malicious intent, there is no issue. Despite the disappointing performance in the Champions League, Xavi remains focused on the La Liga title race, with Barcelona looking to close the gap between them and leaders Real Madrid. Xavi emphasized the importance of playing well and winning in the upcoming Clasico clash.

Xavi expressed confidence in his team’s abilities, stating that Barcelona does not have “bad numbers” this season and attributing Madrid’s success to their strong performances. With rumors circulating about his future at the club, Xavi insisted that his focus was on the upcoming match against Real Madrid and that he had not been approached for discussions about extending his stay beyond June 30. The outcome of the Clasico will be crucial for Barcelona’s chances in the title race, and Xavi stressed the importance of putting pressure on their rivals and closing the gap at the top of the table.

Looking ahead to the showdown with Real Madrid, Xavi emphasized the need for his team to compete at their highest level in order to secure a positive result. Despite the setbacks in the Champions League, Xavi remains determined to lead Barcelona to success in the domestic league and believes that a victory in the Clasico will be a significant step towards achieving that goal. With the title race heating up, Xavi is focused on ensuring that his team gives their all in every match and continues to push for success in the remaining games of the season.

As speculation grows about his future at the club, Xavi’s immediate priority is preparing Barcelona for the challenge of facing Real Madrid. With the La Liga title hanging in the balance, Xavi is focused on steering his team towards victory and closing the gap on their rivals. While reflecting on the mistakes made in the Champions League defeat, Xavi is determined to learn from them and lead Barcelona to success in the upcoming matches, starting with the crucial Clasico clash against Real Madrid.
