Woman claims Disney waterslide caused brain injury and rendered her unconscious in lawsuit

A woman filed a lawsuit against Walt Disney Parks, claiming that she sustained a brain injury after riding a waterslide at Typhoon Lagoon in Florida. The lawsuit alleges that Disney failed to provide a safe environment and did not warn guests that there were no lifeguards at the end of the ride. The woman’s mother and fiance found her limp and bleeding after the ride, and when they asked ride attendants for help, they were told to find lifeguards. The suit claims that if lifeguards had been present, the woman’s brain injury could have been prevented.

The woman, a 25-year-old from Orange County, is undergoing neurological treatment as a result of the traumatic experience. Her lawyer, Richard Russo, stated that the woman’s mother heard her head hitting the slide while the mother was on the ride as well. The woman’s fiance and mother were unable to find any lifeguards for help. The lawsuit seeks damages exceeding $50,000 for the woman’s injuries. Disney did not respond to requests for comment regarding the incident and the lawsuit.

The Humunga Kowabunga ride at Typhoon Lagoon is the steepest waterslide in Disney, sending riders down a five-story drop at nearly 40mph. This is not the first lawsuit involving injuries sustained on the ride. In October, another woman filed a lawsuit alleging that the ride caused severe vaginal lacerations and internal organ damage. However, Disney has not commented on this particular lawsuit. It is unclear whether Disney has posted signs or warnings about the lack of lifeguards at the end of the ride.

The lawsuit raises concerns about the safety measures in place at Typhoon Lagoon and whether Disney is adequately warning guests about risks associated with the rides. The woman’s experience highlights the importance of having lifeguards available at the end of the ride to assist guests who may be injured or in distress. The lawsuit aims to hold Disney accountable for the woman’s injuries and seeks damages for the physical and emotional trauma she has endured as a result of the incident.

The legal action against Disney may prompt the company to review and improve safety protocols at its theme parks to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future. The lawsuits involving injuries on the Humunga Kowabunga ride raise questions about the overall safety of Disney’s water attractions and whether additional precautions need to be implemented to protect guests. The outcome of the lawsuit will likely have implications for how Disney ensures the safety of its guests on all of its rides and attractions moving forward.

Overall, the lawsuit filed by the woman against Walt Disney Parks brings attention to the importance of maintaining a safe environment for guests at theme parks and the need for adequate warning and supervision on rides. The woman’s experience serves as a cautionary tale about the potential risks of thrill rides and the importance of having trained personnel available to assist guests in case of emergencies. The legal action taken by the woman underscores the need for theme parks to prioritize guest safety and take proactive measures to prevent accidents and injuries on their attractions.
