On Easter Sunday, Christians celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ after his crucifixion, marking the end of the 40-day Lent period. Good Friday commemorates the day Jesus died on the cross and is observed the Friday before Easter. This year, Easter Sunday will occur on March 31. While Easter is not a federal holiday, it is widely celebrated in the United States, with the National Retail Federation predicting consumer spending to reach $22.4 billion for the occasion.

Several businesses will be closed on Easter Sunday, including Target, Macy’s, Best Buy, Costco, Sam’s Club, TJ Maxx, Marshalls, HomeGoods, Sierra, and Homesense. However, Walmart will be open for customers. Most Kroger stores and affiliated grocery stores are expected to be open, but shoppers are advised to confirm with their local stores before heading out on Easter. As for banks, most are typically closed on Sundays, and the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq will be closed as well. However, they will resume trading on Monday as usual.

In terms of postal services, the United States Postal Service will not be delivering mail on Easter Sunday. Additionally, there will be no UPS pickup or delivery services, with UPS Store locations possibly closed, although Express Critical will remain available. Most FedEx services will also not be operational, but FedEx Office will be open with modified hours, and Custom Critical services will continue to be available. It is important for those expecting deliveries or needing postal services to plan accordingly due to these closures on Easter Sunday.

Overall, Easter Sunday is a significant holiday for Christians, commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ and the end of Lent. While many businesses will be closed for the occasion, some essential services such as grocery stores and Walmart will remain open. It is advisable for individuals to confirm the operating hours of specific stores and services before heading out on Easter Sunday. Additionally, those relying on postal, delivery, or banking services should take note of the closures and plan accordingly to avoid any inconvenience.
