Over the weekend, the Texas Longhorns faced a major test against UTSA, ultimately emerging victorious with Arch Manning stepping in for an injured Quinn Ewers. Following their impressive performance, Texas was voted as the No. 1 team in the nation in the latest AP Top 25 college football poll. Georgia fell to No. 2 after a tough win over Kentucky, setting the stage for an eventful weekend of college football.

Some standout winners from the weekend included LSU, who overcame a 17-point deficit to defeat South Carolina. UCF also staged an impressive comeback against TCU, with a late touchdown securing the win. Washington State added to the excitement with a dramatic victory over Washington in the “Apple Cup”, showcasing the competitiveness of college football in the midst of intense rivalries.

Arch Manning’s standout performance for the Texas Longhorns in relief of Quinn Ewers earned praise from head coach Steve Sarkisian. Manning threw for four touchdowns and showcased his potential as a future star. Notre Dame bounced back strongly from a previous loss, dominating Purdue and reigniting their season. These performances highlighted the resilience and talent present in college football.

On the flip side, some teams faced disappointment during the weekend. Florida struggled against Texas A&M, leading to fans expressing frustration with head coach Billy Napier. Florida State’s winless start to the season continued as they were defeated by Memphis, highlighting ongoing challenges for the program. Vanderbilt also faced a setback, losing to Georgia State and falling short of the 3-0 start that seemed within reach.

Shedeur Sanders of the Colorado Buffaloes found himself in the spotlight after a dominant performance against Colorado State. However, Sanders’ refusal to shake hands with the opposing quarterback and his confrontational remarks raised some eyebrows. Despite his impressive play on the field, Sanders’ off-field actions generated controversy and detracted from his team’s success.

Overall, the weekend of college football showcased a mix of exciting victories and disappointing losses. Teams like Texas and LSU demonstrated resilience and talent, while others faced setbacks and challenges. The competitive nature of college football was on full display, with standout performances and dramatic moments capturing the attention of fans and analysts alike.
