Ukraine’s Parliament Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk announced the resignations. Speculations had been circulating in Ukraine for some time about Kuleba’s resignation.
In addition to Kuleba, Deputy Prime Ministers Irina Vereshchuk and Olha Stefanyshyna, Strategic Industries Minister Oleksandr Kamysin, Justice Minister Denis Malyushka, and Environment Protection and Natural Resources Minister Ruslan Strelets also resigned. Vereshchuk was responsible for “Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories” and Stefanyshyna for “European and Euro-Atlantic Integration.”
The reasons for the resignations have not been disclosed. There are expectations for more ministers to resign in Ukraine today. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has not yet commented on the resignations.
It is indicated that Zelensky wants to make a comprehensive change in his cabinet. The new ministers are expected to be announced to the public tomorrow. Ukrainian opposition lawmakers have expressed their disapproval of the changes in the cabinet.
Irina Gerashchenko, a member of parliament, said that a national unity government should be established while the war with Russia continues. Meanwhile, Russia carried out airstrikes in Ukraine yesterday.
Officials announced that at least 7 people were killed and more than 30 were injured in the attack in Lviv in western Ukraine. It was reported that a young girl was among the casualties. Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi stated that over 50 buildings were damaged in the city.
Explosion sounds were also heard in the capital city of Kiev this morning. In addition to the Lviv airstrike, 51 people were killed in a missile attack carried out by Russia in Poltava on Tuesday.
President Zelensky stated that those responsible for the attacks will be held accountable. All missile defense systems in Ukraine have been activated, and the army has announced that the air force is on high alert.
