The 150th running of the Kentucky Derby took place today, with over 150,000 fans gathering at Churchill Downs to witness the first leg of horse racing’s Triple Crown. Notable favorites heading into the race included Sierra Leone with odds of 3-1 and Fierceness with odds of 5-2. For those unable to attend the event in person, there were various options available to watch the race live from home. TV coverage began at 2:30 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock, with post time set for approximately 6:57 p.m. ET. Different streaming services like Peacock, YouTube TV, and Hulu with Live TV offered ways to watch the Derby without cable.

For viewers in the UK, Sky Sports Racing provided coverage of the event, accessible via Sky and its Sky Go app. Cord-cutters could also opt for a Now Sports membership through Sky’s subsidiary Now, with prices starting at £12 for a day of access or £25 per month for a subscription. In Canada, TSN was the traditional broadcaster of the Kentucky Derby, but this year’s event was not on their schedule. However, racing fans in Australia could watch the event on ESPN via Foxtel or sign up for streaming service Kayo Sports, where subscriptions started at AU$25 a month.

Some fans may encounter viewing restrictions based on their location, which is where a VPN can help by allowing viewers to virtually change their location to access the coverage they desire. VPNs can also prevent ISPs from throttling speeds on game day and add an extra layer of privacy when connected to public Wi-Fi networks. Most VPNs make it easy to change locations on various devices, ensuring access to live sports coverage. It’s crucial to ensure the VPN is set up correctly to avoid any issues with streaming services enforcing blackout restrictions. Quick tips for using a VPN include troubleshooting tips and recommending privacy-focused browsers like Brave.

Overall, there are numerous options available for watching the Kentucky Derby live from anywhere, whether it’s through traditional cable TV, streaming services, or VPNs for those facing geographical restrictions. The excitement of horse racing’s most iconic event can be experienced by fans around the world, providing an immersive and engaging viewing experience for all horse racing enthusiasts. By exploring different avenues for accessing the coverage, viewers can ensure they don’t miss a minute of the action and join in celebrating the storied tradition of the Kentucky Derby.
