Walmart recently announced a new partnership with fast-food chain Burger King to offer its Walmart+ members a dining benefit as a way to gain a competitive edge over rival program Amazon Prime. The partnership will allow Walmart+ members to receive a 25% discount on all digital orders placed at Burger King through their app or website. Additionally, starting in September, members will also receive a free Whopper once every three months with any purchase. To access these benefits, Walmart+ members must link their memberships to a Burger King rewards account.

The decision to introduce this new perk was based on insights showing that Walmart+ members already frequent Burger King, making it a valuable addition to the membership program. By offering savings on dining options that members are already utilizing, Walmart aims to make their hectic schedules a little easier on the wallet. The Walmart+ membership costs $98 a year, making it a more affordable option compared to Amazon Prime’s $139 price tag. Launched in 2020, Walmart+ offers free shipping on online orders, access to Paramount+, and additional savings on travel through Expedia.

Venessa Yates, senior vice president and general manager of Walmart+, highlighted the company’s commitment to delivering value and convenience to its members through the introduction of new benefits like the Burger King partnership. The collaboration with Burger King is expected to attract more customers to the fast-food chain, especially as many Americans are looking for affordable dining options amidst rising food and grocery prices. Other fast-food restaurants, such as McDonald’s, have also introduced value meal deals in response to consumer demand for cost-conscious options.

The partnership between Walmart+ and Burger King reflects the retailer’s strategy to provide additional benefits and savings to its members while also driving customer engagement with popular dining options. The move comes as part of Walmart’s ongoing efforts to compete with Amazon Prime and offer a competitive alternative for online shoppers. By teaming up with Burger King, Walmart is aiming to strengthen its membership program and provide added value to its customers.

In summary, Walmart’s partnership with Burger King offers new dining benefits to Walmart+ members, including discounts on orders through the Burger King app or website and free Whoppers with purchases. The decision to introduce this perk was based on insights showing members’ interest in dining at Burger King and the desire to offer value and convenience to Walmart+ members. The partnership is part of Walmart’s ongoing commitment to providing benefits that focus on member needs while also competing with Amazon Prime. By collaborating with Burger King, Walmart aims to attract more customers to both brands and provide cost-conscious consumers with affordable dining options.
