Sydney’s record labels Trackwork and SUMAC are teaming up to host a late-night dance party called WINDCHILL, featuring experimental artists like LAVURN, YL Hooi, and Nina Buchanan. The event will take place at the 100-year-old heritage substation Machine Hall, promising a unique musical experience. Alongside the music, comedian Rhys Nicholson and musician Georgia Mooney will host Bedtime Stories, a night of storytelling featuring Annabel Crabb, Benjamin Law, and Julia Zemiro. The event will explore the less glamorous side of humanity, with both laughter and cringe-worthy moments.

In addition to Bedtime Stories, Nicholson and Mooney will also host Up Late Play Date, an adults-only kids party at Mary’s Underground. This event will feature party games, craft activities, and a storytime session strictly for adults. Meanwhile, CLUB 4A will celebrate the Asian diaspora with a diverse lineup of artists. The Machine Hall in Clarence St is set to host intimate shows with acts such as Jen Cloher and the legendary First Nations rock-reggae band No Fixed Address. These performances delve deep into themes of identity, culture, and human experience.

The music lineup for Vivid Sydney 2024 includes a mix of well-known and unexpected acts. The Sydney Opera House Concert Hall will host electronic music pioneers Arca and Fever Ray, along with other popular artists. Sky Ferreira, Explosions in the Sky, and Aldous Harding are among the returning acts set to perform at the festival. Spunk Records will also bid farewell to fans after 25 years with a special triple-header lineup featuring The Middle East. Tumbalong Park will offer free gigs throughout the festival, featuring local favorites like Mallrat, Christine Anu, and more.

With a diverse range of music venues and performers, Vivid Sydney 2024 promises a busy start to winter in Sydney. Attendees can expect a variety of genres and styles, from experimental electronic sounds to traditional indigenous music. Whether you’re a fan of boundary-pushing artists or classic favorites, there’s something for everyone at this year’s festival. Don’t miss out on the chance to experience unforgettable performances and discover new music from both local and international acts.

Overall, Vivid Sydney 2024 is shaping up to be a must-attend event for music lovers in Sydney and beyond. With a mix of established artists, returning favorites, and emerging talent, the festival offers a unique opportunity to explore a wide range of musical genres and styles. From intimate shows at Machine Hall to headline performances at iconic venues like the Sydney Opera House, there’s no shortage of entertainment to enjoy. Whether you’re interested in experimental sounds, storytelling, or free outdoor gigs, Vivid Sydney has something for everyone to enjoy.
