Virginia Tech suffered a heartbreaking loss to No. 7 Miami in a close game that came down to the wire. With three seconds left and down by four points, Hokies quarterback Kyron Drones threw a pass to the end zone that resulted in a chaotic scramble for the ball. Initially ruled a touchdown for Virginia Tech, the call was reversed after a lengthy review, giving the Hurricanes a 38-34 victory. Hurricanes head coach Mario Cristobal admitted that his team played “sloppy” but ultimately came out on top due to a very close call.

The game started off with both teams finding the end zone early on, with the Hokies taking a 27-17 lead in the third quarter after scoring 20 unanswered points. Miami fought back, scoring a touchdown late in the quarter to cut the deficit to three, only for Virginia Tech to score again and go up by 10 points. The Canes managed to make it a three-point game once more and then took the lead with a touchdown with just two minutes left in the game. Despite having time to mount a comeback, Virginia Tech’s hopes were dashed by the overturned call in the end.

Miami quarterback Cam Ward had an impressive performance, completing 24 of 38 passes for 343 yards and four touchdowns. Ten different Hurricanes players recorded at least one reception in the game. On the other side, Hokies running back Bhayshul Tuten ran for 141 yards on 19 carries, including a touchdown. With this loss, Virginia Tech drops to a 2-3 record, while Miami remains undefeated at 5-0. Miami will face Cal in their next game, while Virginia Tech will travel to Stanford for their upcoming matchup.

In a surprising turn of events, Hurricane Helene forced the Denver Broncos to practice on indoor tennis courts at a West Virginia resort. Due to the unforeseen circumstances caused by the hurricane, the Broncos had to adjust their training location to an unconventional setting. Despite the challenges posed by Hurricane Helene, the Broncos persevered and continued their preparation for their upcoming games.

The close matchup between Virginia Tech and Miami showcased the competitive nature of college football. With both teams fighting hard throughout the game, it ultimately came down to a last-minute decision that determined the outcome. Despite the disappointment for Virginia Tech, they can take pride in their strong performance against a highly ranked opponent. The Hurricanes, on the other hand, managed to secure another win and maintain their undefeated record as they look ahead to their next game against Cal. Overall, the game provided an exciting and dramatic conclusion that highlighted the unpredictable nature of sports.
