Vincent Kompany declines offer to make “pact with the Devil” for Burnley survival

Burnley are facing the possibility of relegation from the Premier League after one season, and manager Vincent Kompany has explained his approach to the situation. Kompany claims that he was not tempted to take risky actions, such as signing expensive Premier League players on big contracts, in an attempt to survive in the league. Instead, he chose to overhaul the squad with younger players, spending over £90 million. While this approach may have led to a lack of competitiveness in the short term, Kompany believes that it will pay off in the long run as these young players will become more valuable with experience.

One of the options Kompany considered was to sign experienced players on higher wages, who may have been difficult to manage in case of relegation. However, he decided against this option, opting instead to find a balance between youth and experience in the squad. He believes that the young players coming through the ranks will eventually become the backbone of the team and contribute to its success. This strategy may require Burnley to sell players if they are relegated, but Kompany hopes that the club will benefit financially from the investments made in these players.

Kompany, who is the youngest manager in the Premier League at 38, remains positive despite the challenges Burnley are facing. He acknowledges that managing a struggling team is part of the job and that he still loves what he does. He sees the difficult times as an opportunity to learn and grow, rather than a reason to give up. While Burnley may not achieve immediate success, Kompany believes that the progress made by the young players will lead to future success for the club.

In the event of relegation, Burnley will have to carefully manage their finances and may need to sell players to balance the books. Kompany hopes that the club will be able to make a profit from the investments made in the players, especially if they go on to be successful elsewhere. He is prepared for the challenges that lie ahead and remains hopeful that Burnley can weather the storm and emerge stronger on the other side. Despite the uncertainty, Kompany is committed to his job and is ready to face whatever comes his way.

Burnley’s fate will be decided in their upcoming match against Tottenham, which could determine whether they remain in the Premier League for another season or face relegation. Kompany and his team are fully aware of the stakes and are prepared to give their all to secure a positive outcome. The young players who have been given the opportunity to shine under Kompany’s guidance will be looking to prove their worth and help the team avoid relegation. Whatever the result, Kompany remains optimistic about the future of Burnley and his role as the team’s manager.
