Gecko Robotics has entered into a partnership with the U.S. Navy to introduce wall-climbing robots and artificial intelligence (AI) for fleet maintenance and readiness. The goal is to reduce delays and improve the defensive structures of ships and submarines, ultimately extending their life. The company’s co-founder and CEO, Jake Loosararian, emphasized the importance of providing the Navy with the tools needed to safely and effectively perform vital missions. By leveraging robotics and AI, Gecko aims to decrease maintenance work hours and enhance data analytics to identify defects in processes.

The company was founded in 2013 by Jake Loosararian, who began developing robots during his college years at Grove City College in Pennsylvania. His initial project, aimed at addressing structural issues at a power plant, eventually led to the creation of Gecko Robotics. Loosararian invested his savings, cycled through co-founders, and worked without pay for years before gaining traction in the industry. With a focus on reducing maintenance delays for Navy vessels, Gecko’s technology has seen a significant increase in usage and is set to expand its capabilities to aircraft carriers. The company’s AI-powered operations platform, Cantilever, plays a crucial role in streamlining maintenance processes and getting ships back to sea quickly.

Gecko Robotics prides itself on capturing a vast amount of data points – 4.2 million, compared to traditional methods which capture fewer than 100 data points. This extensive data collection enables the identification of potential issues in defensive structures, leading to more effective maintenance and improved fleet readiness. The partnership with the U.S. Navy signifies a milestone for Gecko, as it solidifies the company’s role in supporting national and global security through cutting-edge technology. By leveraging robotics and AI, the Navy aims to reduce maintenance delays and unexpected issues faced by fleets worldwide, establishing itself as a pioneer in utilizing the latest technological advancements to enhance operational efficiency.

The collaboration between Gecko Robotics and the U.S. Navy is focused on leveraging robotics and AI to enhance fleet maintenance and readiness. By introducing wall-climbing robots and advanced data analytics, the Navy aims to reduce maintenance delays and improve the defensive structures of ships and submarines. Gecko’s technology, driven by an AI-powered operations platform, promises to streamline maintenance processes, decrease work hours, and facilitate quicker turnaround times for Navy vessels. With a strong emphasis on leveraging cutting-edge technology, the partnership aims to enhance the Navy’s operational efficiency and support national and global security efforts.

Gecko Robotics’ journey began with founder Jake Loosararian’s college project addressing structural issues at a power plant, which evolved into the development of wall-climbing robots and advanced data analytics capabilities. Through dedication, perseverance, and strategic partnerships, the company has established itself as a key player in the maintenance and readiness of defense assets. By collaborating with the U.S. Navy and expanding its capabilities to aircraft carriers, Gecko Robotics aims to provide critical support in ensuring the operational efficiency and effectiveness of the Navy’s fleet. Through the utilization of robotics and AI, the partnership seeks to reduce maintenance delays and enhance the overall readiness of ships and submarines, setting a precedent for technological innovation in the defense sector.
