Unplayed Surprises: Taylor Swift’s Untouched ‘Eras’ Songs and Potential Exclusions

Throughout the Eras Tour, Swift has been performing two surprise acoustic songs at every show, utilizing an acoustic guitar and piano with painted flowers. Initially, she stated she wouldn’t repeat any songs unless she made a mistake, but later changed her rule to allow for more creativity. Some songs have been played multiple times while others haven’t been featured at all, leaving the possibility for some tunes to never be performed before the tour wraps up in December 2023.

There are still 17 songs from Swift’s discography that haven’t been played on the Eras Tour, excluding tracks not featured on albums. With over 30 shows remaining, Swift still has the opportunity to incorporate these songs into her setlist, especially with recent song mashups. However, there are some songs, such as “Soon You’ll Get Better” and “Ronan,” that Swift may choose to skip due to their emotional weight and personal significance.

Swift has only performed “Soon You’ll Get Better” live once during a Global Citizen benefit event in 2020, mentioning that it was difficult for her to write and sing. Similarly, “Forever Winter” may also be challenging to perform as fans speculate it deals with the loss of a friend. While Swift regularly includes songs about her ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn in her sets, she has avoided performing “London Boy” and “So Long, London,” possibly saving them for her return to London in August.

In line with her habit of performing location-specific songs, Swift may choose to sing “Florida!!! (feat. Florence and the Machine)” when she returns to Miami in October. As of July 2024, Swift has performed all solo songs from her previous albums during the tour, leaving just a collaboration unplayed. With her acoustic performance of “I Did Something Bad” in London, Swift has covered all her Reputation songs, leaving a few tracks from her other albums yet to be played on tour.

Some of the remaining songs that Swift has yet to play during the Eras Tour include tracks from her re-recorded albums like “Change” and “That’s When” from Fearless (Taylor’s Version), as well as “Girl at Home” and “Forever Winter” from Red (Taylor’s Version). Other songs like “Cassandra” from The Tortured Poets Department have also not been featured on the tour. With time still remaining on the tour, fans await to see if Swift will incorporate these songs into her performances before the tour concludes in December.
