Unnecessary AI Features Added to Samsung’s 2025 TVs

At CES 2025, Samsung showcased its line of AI-enhanced TVs with new convenience features. While previous iterations of Samsung TVs primarily focused on picture quality processing, the new 2025 models introduce AI features similar to those found in smartphones. One such feature, called “Click to Search,” can recognize on-screen content and provide real-time information, including identifying people, places, and products. Another new feature, “Samsung Food,” allows users to replicate recipes from TV shows and order ingredients or delivery directly from the TV screen.

Samsung’s TV remote will now include a dedicated AI button for shopping, content recommendations, and discovery features. Additionally, the company’s voice assistant, Bixby, has received an AI boost for TVs, enabling it to better understand multiple commands given in succession. Gesture control has also made a return in the 2025 models, requiring users to wear a Galaxy Watch while gesturing at the TV. These AI features aim to enhance the overall user experience and offer more convenience in interacting with the TV.

Two standout AI features of Samsung’s new TVs include AI Karaoke, which uses a smartphone as a microphone to remove vocals from songs, and AI Live Translate, which can translate closed captions on live broadcasts into up to seven languages. While these features may appeal to some consumers, they may not be compelling enough to sway customers to choose a Samsung TV over other brands. However, for individuals who enjoy Karaoke or require multilingual support for closed captions, these features could be a valuable addition to their viewing experience.

Overall, the new AI features on Samsung’s 2025 TVs offer added convenience and functionality, aligning with the trend of integrating AI capabilities into consumer electronics. While some features may be more useful than others, such as AI Live Translate for multilingual viewers or AI Karaoke for music enthusiasts, the real test will come when users have the opportunity to test these features in real-world scenarios. As technology continues to evolve, AI integration in TVs and other devices is likely to become more prevalent, enhancing the overall user experience and providing new ways to interact with our devices.
