Ukraine advocates criticize Biden admin for failing to meet deadline for presenting ‘strategic plan’ to end war

A pro-Ukraine non-profit organization called Razom criticized the Biden administration for missing a deadline set by Congress to provide a strategic plan to end Russia’s war on Ukraine. The deadline was part of a $60.8 billion foreign aid package for Ukraine, signed into law by Biden on April 24. The organization expressed disappointment that the administration failed to produce a strategic plan by the June 8 deadline, which they believe has caused confusion.

The legislation requires the secretaries of State and Defense to submit a multi-year strategy to Congress outlining the United States’ support for Ukraine against Russian aggression. This strategy should include specific and achievable objectives, define national security interests, and establish metrics to measure progress. The Biden administration has maintained that Ukrainian victory metrics should be determined by Ukrainians themselves. Despite missing the deadline, Biden recently met with Ukrainian President Zelensky and reiterated American support while presenting a new security assistance package valued at $225 million.

In a TIME interview, Biden emphasized that peace in Ukraine means Russia should never occupy any part of the country. He also mentioned providing weapons to Ukraine to defend itself in the future, instead of including them in NATO. Razom urged the White House to provide a comprehensive plan to help Ukraine defeat Russia, especially as many Americans question the strategy. With the war entering its 2.5-year mark, the organization believes it is time to demonstrate that freedom can prevail over tyranny and stop Russia’s march into Europe.

Murskyj stressed the importance of preventing World War Three by halting Russia’s advance into Europe. The organization emphasized the historical significance of the United States supporting democracy over dictatorship during the Cold War and helping people behind the Iron Curtain free themselves from Moscow’s control. As the situation in Ukraine remains unresolved, Razom calls for a clear plan from the Biden administration to address the conflict and ensure the victory of freedom over tyranny. Despite reaching out to the State Department, Department of Defense, and White House for comment, there has been no immediate response to inquiries from The Post.
