Two ‘severely injured’ victims of a Dallas car crash sue Chiefs’ Rashee Rice for $1 million

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice and SMU cornerback Teddy Knox are being sued for $1 million in damages by Edvard Petrovskiy and Irina Gromova, who were involved in a car crash in Dallas this month. The crash occurred when the victims’ Lexus SUV was struck by Rice’s Lamborghini Urus, traveling at 119 mph, and Knox’s Chevrolet Corvette, traveling at 116 mph. Petrovskiy and Gromova suffered severe injuries from the high-speed impact, including brain trauma, lacerations, bruises, and internal bleeding. The lawsuit alleges that the defendants, Rice, Knox, and others involved, did not offer any support to the injured victims and left the scene of the crash.

The lawsuit filed in Dallas County court by Petrovskiy and Gromova seeks damages for medical care, physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, and property damage, among other things. Rice turned himself in at the Glenn Heights Police Department and is facing charges of aggravated assault, collision involving serious bodily injury, and collision involving injury. Knox, a sophomore at SMU, also turned himself in and is facing the same charges. He has been suspended from the football program but declined to comment further. The victims are seeking justice for the injuries they sustained as a result of the crash and the alleged lack of assistance and support from the defendants.

Rice apologized last week for his part in the incident and expressed his willingness to cooperate with authorities. He acknowledged his responsibility in the matter and expressed his sincere apologies to everyone impacted by the accident. The speed at which both Rice and Knox were driving at the time of the crash, as well as the severity of the injuries suffered by Petrovskiy and Gromova, highlight the serious consequences of reckless driving. The lawsuit serves as a reminder of the importance of driving responsibly and being accountable for one’s actions in the event of a collision.

The affidavit obtained by the Dallas Morning News provided details of the speed at which Rice and Knox were driving just moments before the collision, emphasizing the reckless behavior that led to the crash. The victims’ injuries, including the need for stitches, brain trauma, and other serious injuries, underscore the impact of the defendants’ actions on the lives of those involved. The decision of Rice and Knox to leave the scene of the crash without offering assistance to the injured victims further exacerbates the severity of the situation and highlights the lack of regard for the well-being of others.

The legal proceedings against Rice and Knox, as well as the civil lawsuit filed by Petrovskiy and Gromova, shed light on the consequences of reckless driving and the importance of accountability in such situations. The victims’ quest for justice and compensation for their injuries serves as a reminder of the lasting impact of car accidents caused by negligent behavior. The defendants’ decision to turn themselves in and face the legal consequences of their actions is a step towards taking responsibility and acknowledging the harm caused by their reckless driving. The outcome of the lawsuit and criminal charges will determine the extent of accountability for Rice, Knox, and others involved in the crash.
