Two suspects have been identified by police in connection with a carjacking incident in Midtown. The victim, Joseph Sadykov, was with his date in his BMW M5 Competition when six suspects approached, pulled him out of the car at gunpoint, and stole $15,000 in jewelry before taking off in his car. Sadykov was able to track his car to the Bronx using a GPS tracker and, with the help of responding NYPD officers, caught up to one of the suspects on the Major Deegan Expressway. The suspect then fled on foot and escaped over a fence.
Sadykov described the suspects as males with light complexions and medium builds. They were part of a crew of six, with the other four wearing black hooded jackets and facemasks during the robbery. Sadykov also mentioned that he heard the suspects speaking Spanish to each other during the encounter. The suspects arrived in their own cars, including a black BMW, a black Mercedes, and a silver sedan. The robbery occurred at around 3 a.m. while Sadykov and his date were taking a nap in the backseat of the car to sleep off a few drinks from their night out.
Upon being pulled out of his car, Sadykov was pistol-whipped in the head multiple times but did not sustain any serious injuries. The suspects stole his jewelry and the BMW M5 that he estimated to be worth around $150,000. With the help of the GPS tracker in his car, Sadykov was able to track the stolen vehicle to the Bronx, where he and the police caught up to one of the suspects. However, the suspect managed to escape on foot before being apprehended.
The NYPD has released photos of the two suspects wanted in connection with the carjacking incident. Anyone with information on the suspects is urged to contact the NYPD Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS. The suspects are still at large, and the investigation into the incident is ongoing. Despite the traumatic experience, Sadykov is grateful that he was not seriously injured during the robbery and remains hopeful that the suspects will be caught and brought to justice for their actions.
