Mike Davis, an ally of President-elect Donald Trump, issued a warning to New York Attorney General Letitia James on the “The Benny Show” podcast. Davis dared James to continue legal action against Trump in his second term, threatening to put her “fat a–” in prison for conspiracy against rights. He cautioned James to think twice before violating Trump’s or any American’s constitutional rights, stating that they will not allow it to happen again.
James had ordered Trump to pay a $454 million bond payment earlier in a civil fraud case accusing him of inflating the value of his assets to obtain better loans. Trump appealed the ruling, calling it draconian, unlawful, and unconstitutional. After Trump’s electoral victory, James and New York Gov. Kathy Hochul vowed to fight back against any potential revenge or retribution that may come their way. Davis also criticized Fulton County Attorney General Fani Willis for bringing charges against Trump over his alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 election.
Davis predicted that Willis would be disqualified from the case, with it likely being handed over to another district attorney in Georgia. He argued that it is not a crime to object to a presidential election and suggested that no one in their right mind would bring the case again. Willis had announced an investigation in February 2021 into whether Trump and others had violated any laws while attempting to overturn his loss in Georgia. The case is currently on hold pending appeals from Trump and other defendants.
A former Supreme Court clerk and Senate aide, Davis has been mentioned as a possible candidate for White House Counsel in the upcoming Trump administration. However, he has dismissed these rumors and indicated that he does not want the position, preferring to serve as Viceroy. The comments made by Davis on the podcast have not received responses from the offices of James or Willis. The situation highlights the contentious legal battles surrounding Trump and his allies, setting the stage for continued clashes in the future.
