Trump campaign accuses pro-lifers of indirectly supporting Harris’ extreme abortion stance by not voting

Cory Lewandowski, a campaign adviser for the Trump-Vance ticket, recently appeared on “Fox News Sunday” to address the concerns of pro-life activists who are dissatisfied with former President Trump’s moderate stance on abortion. He specifically responded to comments made by pro-life activist Lila Rose, who criticized Trump for alienating his base by moving towards the center on the issue of abortion. Lewandowski argued that pro-lifers who choose not to vote due to this dissatisfaction are essentially endorsing Kamala Harris’ radical position on abortion. He highlighted Trump’s approach of allowing states to decide on abortion laws, citing the overturning of Roe v. Wade by Trump’s three Supreme Court nominees as a significant achievement in this regard.

In a recent pledge, Trump promised universal coverage for IVF treatment because “we want more babies,” positioning himself as a supporter of pro-life policies despite his moderate stance on abortion. Trump has expressed opposition to using the federal government to ban the delivery of abortion medication by mail, signaling a willingness to allow states to decide on abortion laws. Furthermore, Trump’s running mate, Sen. JD Vance, has vowed to veto any national abortion ban if it comes across their desk. While Democratic candidate Kamala Harris has warned that Trump would enact a national abortion ban if elected, Vance reassured voters that this would not be the case under a Trump administration.

Lewandowski emphasized the importance of voter turnout in the upcoming election, warning that by choosing to stay home, pro-lifers are indirectly supporting Harris, who holds a radical position on abortion. Trump’s approach of allowing states to decide on abortion laws has been lauded as a return to the principles of federalism and states’ rights. He has pushed back against efforts to impose a national abortion ban, instead advocating for a more localized approach to the issue. By appointing conservative judges to the Supreme Court, Trump has effectively shifted the decision-making power on abortion laws back to the states, a move that has been supported by many Americans.

Despite criticism from some pro-life activists, Trump’s latest statements on abortion have underscored his commitment to a pro-life agenda. In contrast to Harris’ position on late-term abortions, Trump has advocated for states to have the authority to determine their own abortion laws. By allowing states to make decisions based on their unique circumstances and values, Trump has championed a more decentralized approach to the issue. This strategy has been praised for its respect for individual state sovereignty and the diverse opinions on abortion held by Americans across the country. The upcoming election will likely continue to see debate and discussion on this critical issue as voters weigh their options and make decisions based on their beliefs and values.
