Homan’s new role does not require confirmation by the US Senate, unlike other cabinet appointments, as he previously served as acting ICE director before retiring. Billionaire Elon Musk applauded the appointment on Twitter, congratulating Homan on being given the responsibility of enforcing the country’s borders. Homan assured that ICE would carry out Trump’s deportation plan in a humane manner, emphasizing that the military would not be involved in the process.
In an interview on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures,” Homan outlined plans for a targeted and well-managed deportation operation conducted by ICE officials who are well-versed in such tasks. He prioritized expelling migrants who pose national security threats and public safety threats, while also addressing the issue of illegal immigration and the consequences for those who violate immigration laws. Homan reiterated his commitment to carrying out deportations in a humane manner, focusing on targeted and planned operations.
During his interview on CBS’ “60 Minutes,” Homan emphasized the importance of enforcing immigration laws and ensuring consequences for those who enter the country illegally. He criticized the Biden-Harris administration for their approach to handling illegal immigration, which he believed lacked adequate consequences. Homan also discussed the possibility of deporting families together as part of mass deportation efforts, indicating his willingness to carry out deportations while minimizing the impact on families.
