Trump acknowledges the Arizona manhunt for suspect who threatened to kill him: ‘It comes with the territory’

Former President Trump was the subject of a manhunt launched by law enforcement officials in Arizona after a man allegedly threatened to kill him during a campaign event at the southern border in Cochise County. The suspect, Ronald Lee Syvrud, 66, of Benson, was taken into custody without incident. When asked about the threats, Trump responded by saying that he has a job to do and that it is a dangerous job, but he must continue to do it. The Cochise County Sheriff’s Office was in close contact with Trump’s team throughout the incident, and Syvrud faces multiple outstanding warrants and additional charges pending.

Despite the threats against him, Trump continued with his visit to the battleground state of Arizona with a “Make America Safe Again” theme. This visit coincided with Vice President Kamala Harris’s expected Democratic National Convention acceptance speech. Trump has been actively campaigning in several states this week, including Pennsylvania, Michigan, and North Carolina, and has plans for events in Las Vegas and Glendale, Arizona. The U.S. Secret Service was aware of the manhunt in Arizona and referred all inquiries to the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office, while Fox News Digital reached out to the Trump campaign for comment on the situation.

The threats made against Trump were the result of threatening posts on social media by Syvrud over a two-day period. Syvrud also has outstanding warrants in Wisconsin for DUI and failure to appear for DUI, as well as warrants in Graham County, Arizona for hit-and-run and felony failure to register as a sex offender. Additional charges are pending against Syvrud, who was taken into custody without incident. Trump’s visit to the southern border in Cochise County, Arizona had a strong security presence, with the sheriff’s office working closely with his team to ensure his safety during the event.

Despite the potentially dangerous situation, Trump remained committed to carrying out his duties as a political figure. He acknowledged the dangers of his job but emphasized the importance of fulfilling his responsibilities. Trump’s campaign events have continued in various states, with a focus on key battleground areas. The threats against him highlight the risks involved in political campaigning, but Trump’s determination to continue his work remains steadfast. The U.S. Secret Service’s awareness of the situation and coordination with local law enforcement further underscores the seriousness of the threats made against Trump and the measures taken to ensure his safety.
