Former President Donald Trump’s legal bills have reached more than $80 million, with seven lawyers making at least $3.5 million each representing him since he left office in January 2021. These lawyers have earned a total of $45 million, with more still to come. Trump has primarily relied on Save America PAC, a leadership political action committee, to cover his legal fees. The PAC has spent $69.4 million on Trump’s legal fees since its formation in November 2020, with another Trump-affiliated PAC spending $18.4 million. In total, over 75 law firms have been paid by these PACs to represent Trump.

The percentage of Save America PAC’s total spending on legal fees has been growing, with over $5 million out of $7.2 million spent in February dedicated to legal expenses. As Trump is set to face four criminal trials and multiple ongoing civil cases, his legal fees are expected to increase. His lawyers have already been paid impressive fees for representing him in court even before his criminal cases go to trial. The top five highest-paid firms by Save America have received between $3.7 million and $11.9 million, with lower-paid lawyers still earning over $1 million from the PAC.

Christopher Kise, a Florida-based lawyer, has been the highest-paid, with his firms receiving $11.9 million from Save America PAC. Clifford S. Robert, a New York-based lawyer, has earned $7.7 million, while Alina Habba from New Jersey has been paid $6.9 million. Harmeet Dhillon and Jesse Binnall, representing Trump’s campaign, have received $5.9 million and $4.9 million, respectively. John F. Lauro, representing Trump in a federal criminal case, has been paid $4 million, and Evan Corcoran has earned $3.7 million for his legal representation.

These lawyers have been involved in various high-profile cases, including civil fraud trials, defamation cases, and criminal indictments against Trump. They have represented him in cases related to the 2020 and 2024 elections, efforts to overturn election results, and civil cases concerning the January 6, 2021, riot. The legal expenses incurred by Trump have been substantial, with his lawyers continuing to command high fees for their representation. As Trump faces multiple legal challenges in the coming months, the amount owed to his legal team is expected to increase further.

Overall, Trump’s legal bills have surpassed $80 million, with his lawyers commanding impressive fees for representing him in various high-profile cases. The primary source of funding for his legal fees has been Save America PAC and other affiliated PACs, which have spent millions on his legal defense. As Trump continues to face criminal trials and civil cases, the amount owed to his lawyers is expected to rise, with his legal team garnering significant compensation for their services. Despite the high costs, Trump remains committed to defending himself in court, with his legal battles showing no signs of slowing down.
