Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu conducted inspections at the Genç Viaduct in Bingöl. As part of his visit, Minister Uraloğlu examined the Genç Viaduct, which is being constructed at the entrance of the Genç district in Bingöl and connects the Bingöl-Diyarbakır highway.
Speaking to journalists at the site, Uraloğlu stated that the road project from Genç in Bingöl to Diyarbakır has been completed overall. He emphasized that the most important structure within the project is the Genç Viaduct, saying, “Before the construction of the Genç Viaduct, we had a road that entered the Genç district and affected the existing traffic in the city as well as transit transportation, slowing down transit traffic. It was a problematic situation in terms of urbanism and transit transportation. We made the decision to build the viaduct, started the work, and thankfully completed it. It is a viaduct that is 620 meters long and has 18 spans. We completed and put it into service. We shortened the 43-kilometer road by 2.5 kilometers, saving time and fuel. We ensured a safe traffic flow, providing a safe, comfortable, and fast traffic for our citizens. We achieved a total savings of 104 million Turkish liras annually from time and fuel. So, it is a viaduct that pays for itself in a few years. We also saved 2,641 tons of exhaust emissions annually, which were at a serious level in the city center. In this sense, it is a very environmentally-friendly project.”
Uraloğlu wished the road to be auspicious and thanked everyone involved in its construction. Governor Ahmet Hamdi Usta, AK Party Bingöl MPs Feyzi Berdibek and Zeki Korkutata, Mayor Erdal Arıkan, AK Party Provincial Chairman Yılmaz Seven, and protocol members accompanied Minister Uraloğlu during his visit.
Later on, Uraloğlu visited the shopkeepers on Genç Street and met with Bingöl Mayor Erdal Arıkan. The Minister’s visit aimed to examine the progress of the road project firsthand and to express gratitude to those who contributed to its completion. The Genç Viaduct is expected to significantly improve the transportation network in the region, providing a safe and efficient route for commuters. It is a critical infrastructure project that will benefit the local community and contribute to the economic development of the area.
Minister Uraloğlu highlighted the importance of such infrastructure investments in enhancing connectivity and promoting economic growth. The completion of the Genç Viaduct marks a milestone in the transportation sector, offering a modern and sustainable solution to the region’s traffic challenges. The viaduct’s environmental benefits in reducing emissions and improving air quality further demonstrate the government’s commitment to sustainable development.
The successful completion of the Genç Viaduct reflects the government’s dedication to improving the country’s infrastructure and ensuring the well-being of its citizens. Minister Uraloğlu’s visit to Bingöl underscores the government’s continued efforts to enhance transportation networks and strengthen regional connectivity. The Genç Viaduct stands as a testament to the government’s commitment to sustainable development and efficient infrastructure planning, providing a model for future projects in the region.
