Italian respondents also highlighted positive events such as the triumph of Italian tennis in 2024, with Jannik Sinner becoming the number one ranked player in the world, and a boost in tourism. On the political front, many pointed to the growing influence of Premier Giorgia Meloni, the polarization around the major parties FdI and PD, and the rift between Conte and Grillo in the 5 Star Movement. According to Pietro Vento, director of Demopolis, the trends of the top three parties in Italy show Fratelli d’Italia, led by Giorgia Meloni, approaching 30% support, gaining 1.5 points from December 2023 and 3.5 points since the 2022 elections. The PD, led by Elly Schlein, has seen a 4-point increase since the previous year, reaching 24%. The 5 Star Movement, under Conte, remains just below 12%, showing slight growth compared to the European elections but still far from its previous election results.
