The weapons for Kiev will depart immediately. If Putin attacks NATO ally, we will have to intervene

Joe Biden recently signed a $95 billion aid package for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan, declaring that the United States will provide Kiev with the necessary support to continue fighting. The aid will include air defense, artillery, missile systems, and armored vehicles, with shipments starting immediately. Biden emphasized that this investment in new allies is also an investment in American security. The equipment being sent to Ukraine will be replaced by newly produced items from American companies, supporting the domestic industrial base.

During a press conference, Biden highlighted the importance of supporting Ukraine and Israel while also boosting American industry. He mentioned that the missiles and weapons being sent to Ukraine will be produced in different states across the country, such as Arizona, Alabama, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Texas. This dual purpose of aiding Ukraine and strengthening the American industrial base underscores the significance of the aid package. Biden also underscored that if Putin were to attack a NATO ally as he has attacked Ukraine, the US would be obligated to come to their defense under Article 5 of the NATO collective defense agreement, similar to how NATO allies came to America’s aid after the 9/11 attacks.

Biden expressed concern that if Putin were to succeed in Ukraine, his next move could be an attack on a NATO ally. The invocation of Article 5 in defense of an ally would be a significant step, as it has only been used once before in response to the 9/11 attacks. The President stressed the importance of moving quickly to provide aid to Ukraine in order to prevent further aggression by Russia. By sending weapons and equipment to assist in Ukraine’s defense, the US is signaling its support for the Ukrainian people and its commitment to maintaining stability in the region.

The aid package signed by Biden includes a significant investment in military support for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan, reflecting the US commitment to its allies and partners. By sending weapons and military equipment to Ukraine, the US is seeking to bolster the country’s ability to defend itself against Russian aggression. The replacement of equipment in American stockpiles with newly produced items from American companies highlights the dual purpose of the aid package – supporting allies abroad while also investing in domestic industry.

Overall, Biden’s actions reflect a commitment to supporting allies in need and countering aggression from hostile powers. By swiftly providing aid to Ukraine and strengthening the American industrial base in the process, the administration is sending a clear message of solidarity and resolve. The President’s emphasis on the importance of defending NATO allies and the potential consequences of Russian aggression underscores the gravity of the situation and the need for decisive action. As tensions continue to rise in Eastern Europe, Biden’s leadership and determination to stand by Ukraine and other partners in the face of adversity serve as a reassurance of America’s commitment to global security and stability.
