The Supreme Election Board (YSK) has decided to redo the Local Authorities General Elections held on March 31 in the villages of Çırpılar and Sarıçayır in the Yenice district of Çanakkale. The decision was made due to the lack of eligibility of the winning candidates for village headman, as there were records in their criminal records. Therefore, a new ballot will be set up on June 2 for the village headman positions in both villages.

It was stated that the current village headmen and village elders in Çırpılar and Sarıçayır will continue their duties until the election results are finalized. The decision to redo the elections came after it was discovered that the winning candidates had previous criminal records that made them ineligible for the positions they won in the initial election. The YSK made the decision to ensure that the elections are fair and in accordance with the regulations.

The YSK’s decision to redo the elections in Çırpılar and Sarıçayır villages has raised concerns among the residents and candidates. The candidates who had won in the initial elections are now facing uncertainty about their political future. However, the YSK’s decision aims to uphold the integrity of the election process and ensure that those who are elected are eligible to hold office.

The villagers of Çırpılar and Sarıçayır will have the opportunity to vote again for their village headmen on June 2. The decision to redo the elections may lead to a new outcome, as the previous winning candidates may not be eligible to run again due to their criminal records. It remains to be seen how the residents will respond to the decision and who will emerge as the new village headmen in the revised elections.

The YSK’s decision to redo the elections in Çırpılar and Sarıçayır villages highlights the importance of upholding ethical standards in the electoral process. It sends a message that candidates with criminal records will not be allowed to hold public office, in order to maintain the integrity of local governance. The revised elections will provide a fair opportunity for the residents to choose their village headmen based on merit and eligibility, ensuring that the elected candidates are fit to serve the community.
