In Van, a city in Turkey that shares the longest border with Iran, security forces are working hard to ensure the peace and security of the citizens by controlling the border and intervening in any illegal activities. The “Frontier Eagles” on the border, gendarmerie personnel and security guards in rural areas, and police teams in the city center and districts are all working together to prevent irregular migration.
Using thermal cameras, motion-sensitive sensors, night vision binoculars, drones, and all available technology, security forces are able to quickly respond to any incidents they detect. Electropic towers, lift towers, and state-of-the-art surveillance systems are being used to control the border effectively and prevent any illegal activities from taking place.
In efforts to prevent any illegal activities along the border, security forces are also ensuring the safety of Iranian tourists entering the country through the Kapıköy Customs Gate in the Saray district. Teams conducting checks on the incoming tourists from Iran and those traveling from Turkey to Iran are working diligently to ensure the safe use of the customs gate.
Construction of a 180-kilometer modular wall has been completed in order to prevent illegal border crossings, with ongoing construction on a 295-kilometer stretch of the border. The contractor teams have completed the construction of 180 kilometers of concrete walls so far and continue their assembly work. The border now has 3 rows of barbed wire on top of the walls, and 320 kilometers of energy transmission lines have been installed for the completed electro-optical towers, along with the erection of 2,696 electricity poles.
In the area where a 220-kilometer border patrol road has been opened, efforts are still underway to complete the remaining security wall and patrol road construction. Security forces are using 25 reconnaissance surveillance vehicles to combat irregular migration along the border. The ongoing work on the security wall and patrol road aims to further enhance border security and maintain peace and stability in the region.
