The PP leans towards not including Sánchez’s wife in the list of Senate witnesses.

The PP is facing an intense internal debate on how far to take the denunciation of the professional activities of Pedro Sánchez’s wife, Begoña Gómez, but for now, the party is leaning towards not including the President’s wife in the first list of witnesses in the Koldo case investigation in the Senate. The PP’s drafts of the first witnesses do not include Gómez, and the party may decide to call her at a later stage once the commission’s work progresses. The leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, expressed reservations about calling the President’s wife to testify, stating that he is uncomfortable with the idea and prefers to focus on questioning Pedro Sánchez about his wife’s professional activities.

Feijóo emphasized that Pedro Sánchez should provide more explanations regarding his wife’s activities, and the PP plans to call the President to testify in the investigation commission. Feijóo warned that if Sánchez does not respond adequately, they will make him do so. Despite his reluctance, Feijóo did not rule out the possibility of eventually calling Begoña Gómez to testify as well. The PP has been engaged in a heated internal debate about how far to go in targeting the President’s personal circle, with some party members opposing the idea on ethical grounds, while others advocate for Gómez’s appearance in the commission. Some argue that it is better to wait and see how the investigations progress before making a decision.

The PP has confirmed its intention to call the President of the Congress, Francina Armengol, and the Minister of Territorial Policy, Ángel Víctor Torres, to participate in the Senate investigation, as they are implicated in the Koldo case during their tenures as regional presidents of the Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands. Feijóo is reportedly not in favor of including Gómez among the witnesses, but he is also upset with the Socialist leader for bringing up his infamous photo with a drug trafficker. The mutual destruction race between the PP and the PSOE continues, with both parties exchanging accusations and attacks in a volatile political climate.

The PP has temporarily halted its pursuit of the President’s wife amid ongoing political tensions with the PSOE, as both parties engage in a tit-for-tat battle of accusations. The Socialists have demanded explanations from the PP leader regarding a government contract awarded to the company of his partner’s brother in Galicia. The back-and-forth between the two parties is far from over, with each side attempting to discredit the other. In the midst of these political maneuvers, the PP is carefully considering its next steps regarding the investigation into the activities of Pedro Sánchez and his wife, Begoña Gómez, as the political landscape remains volatile and uncertain.
