Construction of housing units in Başlamış Mahallesi by the Housing Development Administration of Turkey (TOKİ) has reached 40 percent completion. Erzin District Governor Onur Özaydın stated that a total of 818 buildings in the district were damaged in the earthquakes that occurred on February 6, 2023. He highlighted the rapid progress of construction of permanent housing units by TOKİ.
Özaydın mentioned that new government hospital buildings are being constructed in the city center, which will include 488 TOKİ housing units with ground plus 2 or ground plus 3 floors, designed specifically for residents of the area. These buildings are built to be highly durable and practical for the residents. He also mentioned that the key handover of these units will take place on October 29.
In addition to housing units, Özaydın highlighted that the new construction project will include amenities such as children’s parks, playgrounds, mosques, schools, and other social facilities to meet the needs of the residents. For earthquake victims living in rural areas, 121 village housing units are currently being constructed, with a focus on rapid delivery.
