The Kendrick Lamar and Drake Beef Helped ‘Like That’ Reach the Top Spot

J. Cole has seemingly responded to Kendrick Lamar’s recent diss track on the newly released mixtape “Might Delete Later.” The track, titled “7 Minute Drill,” includes lyrics aimed at Lamar, accusing him of seeking attention and criticizing his music. This comes after Lamar’s verse on Future and Metro Boomin’s song “Like That,” which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. In Lamar’s verse, he seemed to take shots at Drake, referring to him as a “sneak dissing” artist.

The ongoing beef between Drake and Lamar dates back to at least 2013 when Lamar called out multiple rappers on the song “Control,” including Drake. Since then, fans have interpreted various lyrics from both artists as jabs at each other. Despite their differences, both Drake and Lamar are considered two of the most successful modern rappers, with Lamar winning 17 Grammy Awards and Drake dominating music sales and streaming. Former President Barack Obama even weighed in on the debate, choosing Lamar as his preferred artist.

The recent success of Future and Metro Boomin’s collaborative album “We Don’t Trust You” has reignited interest in the ongoing beef between Drake and Lamar. The album, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, features the hit song “Like That” that topped the Hot 100. Future and Metro Boomin also had several other songs debut in the top 10, further solidifying their success in the music industry.

Another recent rap beef involving Megan Thee Stallion has also garnered attention, with her song “Hiss” reaching No. 1 on the Hot 100 earlier this year. Fans speculated that the lyrics in “Hiss” were aimed at artists like Drake, Nicki Minaj, and Tory Lanez, who was sentenced to prison for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in 2020. Minaj responded to the perceived diss with her own track, “Big Foot,” and a series of tweets attacking Megan. The beef between the two artists has generated significant buzz on social media.

As the rap world continues to be filled with drama and diss tracks, fans eagerly await the next move from artists like Drake, Lamar, and Megan Thee Stallion. The music industry remains competitive, with artists vying for the top spots on the charts and engaging in verbal spars to assert their dominance. The ongoing feuds and rivalries only serve to further ignite interest in the music scene and keep fans engaged with their favorite artists and their latest releases.
