The impossible mission of renting an apartment if you have a pet

It is no mystery to anyone that renting an apartment in a city is becoming increasingly complicated as prices are skyrocketing. But if you have a pet, the situation becomes even more difficult. Only 5% of rental apartments allow living with a pet, according to the real estate portal Fotocasa. For many people, pets are more than animals, they are part of the family, so it is unfair that they have to stay outside our home just because the majority of landlords do not care. It is ironic that in an era where empathy and inclusion are gaining ground, we face such a discordant reality. One should be able to share their home with all their loved ones.

Pedro Sánchez said in his interview on Cadena SER that what encouraged him to continue was the empathy of those who have suffered personal attacks for being actively involved in politics. I was 15 years old during the 2011 municipal elections. I was hanging campaign posters when I saw a candidate for councilor from another party pass by. Days later, rumors spread that I had kicked his mailbox. “This is politics,” he said. When political harassment persists from the municipal level to the national level, we erode the quality of our institutions and undermine the population’s trust in their representatives. This only leaves anarchy or dictatorship. Do they want that?

“To do good journalism, one must have intellectual and moral honesty.” These words from Victoria Prego clearly define the qualities that a good information professional must have. Now, when journalism is increasingly questioned, we should scrutinize what politicians say about media that are not favorable to them before believing their claims, in case they are trying to make us distrust those that do not suit them. Of course, not all journalism can be trusted, but neither can the politicians who want us to believe that only media aligned with them should be trusted.

Public libraries are true refuges for many people, offering calm, concentration, and knowledge. I have read that their influx can be significant on Saturdays, so why are Sundays not considered for opening in many large cities? This could meet the needs of students or workers who cannot visit during the week. The introduction of “on-call libraries” could ensure that these cultural centers are accessible whenever needed.
