The bodies of Mazhar Demir and Sinan Deviren, who died in the fire, were taken from the morgue of Diyarbakır Gazi Yaşargil Training and Research Hospital by their relatives and brought to the cemetery in the rural Yücebağ Village of the district. After the funeral prayer, the bodies were buried side by side amidst tears.

The fire, which started at 10:15 p.m. in Köksalan Village of Çınar district in Diyarbakır as a stubble and blanket fire and affected the Yazçiçeği, Bağrık, and Ağaçsever neighborhoods due to the strength of the wind, had spread towards Yücebağ, Şenyuva, and Yetkinler neighborhoods in Mardin’s Mazıdağı district. It was eventually extinguished as a result of the intense work of the teams and the citizens. 11 people lost their lives in the fire, and 78 people were affected.

The community has been deeply saddened by the tragic loss of life caused by the fire. The families of the deceased have been overwhelmed with grief as they laid their loved ones to rest in Yücebağ Village. The fire, which spread rapidly and affected several neighborhoods, required significant effort from both emergency response teams and local residents to contain the flames and prevent further devastation.

The incident has highlighted the importance of fire safety measures and prevention strategies, especially during the dry season when the risk of wildfires is heightened. Authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to prevent similar tragedies in the future. The local community has come together to support the families of the victims and offer assistance in any way they can during this difficult time.

As investigations into the cause of the fire continue, there is a growing sense of unity and solidarity among the residents of Diyarbakır and Mardin. The loss of lives in this tragic incident has served as a stark reminder of the importance of timely and effective emergency response efforts in preventing such disasters. With the support of the community and ongoing efforts from authorities, steps are being taken to ensure the safety and well-being of all residents in the region. The memories of Mazhar Demir and Sinan Deviren will be honored as the community works together to heal and rebuild in the aftermath of this devastating event.
