A driver whose identity is unknown violated a red light with his Audi car on Democracy Boulevard in Gültepe Neighborhood and hit pedestrians trying to cross the road from the pedestrian crossing in front of Petrol City Shopping Mall. The impact caused a baby in a stroller and three women to be thrown. The stroller holding the baby was shattered due to the force of the impact.
Following the accident, the road was closed to traffic. Upon notification of the situation, a large number of health and police teams were sent to the scene. The injured were taken to the Batman Education Research Hospital after the initial intervention by the medical teams that arrived at the scene. It was learned that three of the injured were in critical condition.
After the injured were taken to the hospital, the road was reopened to traffic. Residents who stated that accidents frequently occur in front of the Petrol City Shopping Mall called for urgent measures to be taken.
An investigation into the accident has been launched.
